One of Joseph Smith Jr.'s apostles.
The first person in this dispensation to be ordained to the Melchizedek Priesthood.
Ordained Joseph Smith, Jr. and Sidney Rigdon to the Melchizedek Priesthood.
Referred to as "Baneemy" in early editions of the Doctrine and Covenants. The 1864 edition states "... and I will soften the hearts of the people, as I did the heart of Pharaoh, from time to time, until my servant Baurak Ale, and Baneemy, whom I have appointed, shall have time to gather up the strength of my house..." (source).
- The LDS Church version of the Doctrine and Covenants (105:27) has been altered to now read: "And I will soften the hearts of the people, as I did the heart of Pharaoh, from time to time, until my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and mine elders, whom I have appointed, shall have time to gather up the strength of my house..."
